SCARABEO 3 undergoes comprehensive servicing at CNIC’s repair facility in Limbe

Scarabeo 3, a semi-submersible oil rig owned by the Italian Multinational petroleum exploration company SAIPEM arrived CNIC’s modern dedicated oil rigs and ship repair facility (near completion) in Limbe, on 26th August 2007, for diverse rehabilitation works.

After inspection and preliminary works, effective servicing commenced on 3rd September 2007 is scheduled to last slightly over two months and consist essentially in executing the following tasks:

1-       Steelworks and the prefabrication and replacement of cable trays

2-       Replacement of various pipelines to cover about 2000 meters.

3-       Blasting and painting of the under deck structure and bracings covering a surface area of over 6000mē necessitating the erection of some 3000m3 of hanging scaffolding.

While the manpower level varies according to specific assignments, the project execution plan shows the use of a multi-disciplinary workforce of more than 300 employees at peak periods; further emphasizing CNIC’s technical capabilities and readiness to fully assume its role as a major partner of the offshore oil industry with the completion by mid-2008 of the industrial facility under construction.
