07th - December - 2006 CNIC Teams Presents ASCIP Trophies to General Manager.

The 2006 edition of the “Association Sportive et Culturelle Inter-Pétrolier”, ASCIP (Petroleum Sector Sports and Cultural Association) ended with the double triumph of CNIC teams at the finals in both the Veteran and Senior categories.

After the brilliant performances, the laureates were again in the spotlight on Thursday 7th December 2006 during a ceremony at CNIC’s premises in which their trophies were officially presented to the General Manager whose material and moral support was recognized as instrumental in the victories recorded by CNIC teams.

In a brief statement at the event, the General Manager commended his collaborators for their performances indicating: “I exhort you not only to keep up these performances but even, to strive for higher achievements of someday taking the CNIC football team beyond the framework of corporate football tournaments.”

He pointed out that he was all the more delighted because he was aware that their busy working schedule does not allow much time for regular training against sports competitions which he recognized as also being important in ensuring the balance and well being of workers.

It may be relevant to recall that in the first of two finals on Saturday, 2nd December 2006, CNIC’s Veteran team edged its SNH counterpart by 1 – 0 before giving way to a highly contested final in the Senior category where CNIC secured its victory during post match penalties by an aggregate 5 – 4 score, following a 2 – 2 tie during regular play against its SNH rivals to whom they lost the Trophy in the 2005 edition.
