Government holds concertation meeting with CNIC and Economic Operators on Limbe Shipyard Employee Housing Project
Within the framework of Government’s follow-up of the execution of the various components of phase I of the Limbe Shipyard Project, an information and sensitisation meeting bringing together Economic Operators (small and medium-sized enterprises), Public Authorities, the Cameroon Chamber of Commerce and CNIC took place at the Head Office of the Chamber of Commerce, Douala on Friday, 3rd November 2006.
The meeting convened under the auspices of the Ministry of Mines, Industry and Technological Innovation and co-presided by Mr. NDONGA Célestin – Director of Industry and Mr. ESAWE Christian – Director of the Promotion of Industries at the Chamber of Commerce was intended to sensitize Economic Operators in the Sector of Building Construction, Public Works and the supply of local building materials on the role they can play in the execution of the social component (Limbe Shipyard Employee Housing Project) and on some aspects of the industrial component such as the construction of workshops, offices, utility networks etc.
Apart from the targeted Economic Operators, the meeting also registered the participation of several Project Focal Points representing Ministries or other State institutions such as the Ministry of Housing and Urban Development (MINDUH), the Ministry of Small and Medium sized enterprises, the National Investment Corporation (SNI), “Crédit Foncier du Cameroun” (CFC) etc.
Deliberations crystallized into the resolve of these national Economic Operators to strive to ensure that they provide services of the best quality and show capability of respecting all project specifications as laid down by the Funding Institutions and re-echoed by Mr. PONDY Jean, Director of the Task Force, CNIC who represented the General Manager of CNIC and presented the Project to participants.
Considering the financial constraints generally faced by this category of Entrepreneurs, they were exhorted to consider partnerships in order to complement and strengthen their capabilities.
