1st - May - 2006 Highlights of CNIC participation in 2006 Labour Day celebrations.

In keeping with a long standing tradition within the company, hundreds of CNIC employees joined their colleagues from the private sector as well as some public sector workers to celebrate this year’s edition of International Labour Day.

As it has regularly been the case in the past, the General Manager of CNIC and several other Senior Management Staff were present in the official tribune alongside Administrative, Trade Union and Political authorities, to cheer and encourage their collaborators.

Two major innovations characterized CNIC’s participation at this year’s march past. First, the official cloth provided for the event featured the logos of CNIC and UIC on the same cloth for the first time since the take-over of UIC by CNIC in October 2003. Another innovation was the effective participation, besides CNIC employees, of some non- Cameroonians currently undergoing internship at CNIC.

The approximately 500-man strong CNIC workforce that took part in the march past at the “Place des Portiques”, Akwa, later convened at the CNIC Head office where they joined other colleagues in feasting and sharing a meal provided by the company. As was the case at the ceremonial ground the General Manager, dressed in the official cloth, was present to share with his collaborators.

After listening to a statement from a representative of personnel, the GM lauded the massive participation of personnel and promised to seek solutions to the genuine concerns of workers. He used the opportunity to urge them to remain committed at work and to consolidate the existing spirit of collaboration and solidarity .
