The Management of the Cameroon Shipyard and Industrial Engineering Ltd. organized an intensive one-day information seminar on Thursday, 13th October 2005 for managerial level personnel, project engineers, safety officials and other senior staff of the company. This seminar was aimed at better acquainting these personnel with various aspects of the execution of the Limbe Shipyard Project.

Addressing seminar participants in his opening remarks, the General Manager - Mr. FORJINDAM Zacchaeus invited his collaborators to actively participate in the deliberations of the seminar as the Limbe Project is vital in enabling the company to attain its medium and long-term objectives.

He intimated that the choice of Limbe to host the seminar was to enable them match the theoretical explanations with reality during the visit of Project sites which would be impossible if the seminar held in Douala. This, he expected, would have the direct advantage of improving the quality of interactions, exchange of views and contributions made to ensure that the execution of this strategic project reflects the highest standards and prepares CNIC for the best practices in its line of activity.

Punctuating his remarks with an adage, the General Manager stated that the best designer of any project remains its users who in this case are the clients as well as current and future personnel of CNIC whose inputs are essential to the Project. Pursuing in his preliminary remarks, the General Manager briefly retraced the project from conception to its present state of execution, outlined the challenges and opportunities attendant on the Project and highlighted the confidence CNIC enjoys from funding institutions as well as the commitment and vital support of the Cameroon Government.

The seminar which comprised presentations and visits of project sites also saw the Director of the Task Force, CNIC - Mr Jean PONDY, playing the role of main resource person. Also participating in the seminar were four other CNIC Directors, the UIC Manager, a representative of the Project’s Lead Consultant and Mr. Ali DEMBRI - an AfDB sponsored Technical Assistant to the Project Task Force.
