Under the auspices of the Prime Minister’s Office, an important coordination meeting of Limbe Shipyard Project (LSP) focal points took place in Limbe from the 13th through 14th July 2006.
In the parlance of the Project, focal points designate senior state authorities and officials representing Ministries or Public Institutions that play a vital role in the facilitation, follow-up and execution of this multi-faceted project.
The Limbe meeting whose deliberations were moderated by Mr. MOUNBAIN MATAPIT of the Prime Minister’s Office was intended to follow up and evaluate the level of implementation of the recommendations of the cabinet meeting presided over by H.E. the Prime Minister and Head of Government on 19th May 2005 to improve the collaboration of various Departments towards the execution of the Project.
At the end of this meeting attended by 15 of the 16 focal points and other stakeholders participants ( see list ) expressed satisfaction as several recommendations of the Cabinet Meeting had either been fully or partially implemented. They also commended the Management of CNIC and companies involved in on-going works for their demonstrated mastery of the Project’s execution thus far.
Closing the meeting deliberations on Friday, 17th July 2006, the Senior Divisional Officer for FAKO Mr. Bernard OKALIA BILAI reiterated the commitment of the State to lend CNIC and international funding partners every necessary assistance to ensure the smooth execution of the Project, noting that:
” Nothing shows the importance Government attaches to the Project better than the designation of focal points by each Department to specifically ensure its follow-up.”
