27th - July - 2005 CNIC(Cameroon) And TURNER DIESEL Ltd(U.K) jointly establish an EMD GM & DDC Service Centre in Cameroon

To meet the increasing needs of operators of drill rigs and marine vessels equipped with GM EMD and Detroit Diesel Corporation (DDC) engines within the Central and West African sub-region, CNIC and Turner Diesel are capitalising on their combined expertise to set up a specialised engine service centre in Douala.

Turner Diesel is a recognised Distributor of GM EMD and DDC who equally possess certified experience with other diesel engine manufacturers. Through this partnership, Turner will bring to clients in the region its expertise in the domain of global effective maintenance activities and the use of the Original Equipment Manufacturer materials thus ensuring pro-active management of client’s diesel engine population.

For its part, CNIC brings to this partnership its established reputation as a leading services industry in the sub region buttressed by its robust, qualified and dedicated personnel.

Located at the offshore base at UIC Jetty, CNIC Shipyard in Douala, the workshop will be equipped with all necessary specialised tooling required to effect servicing/repairs to the range of GM EMD and the DDC engines on board or in workshops. Other engine makes are not left out as the experience of Turner covers most manufacturers.

Flying squads shall promptly respond to specific requests. Similarly, Turner remains available for additional expatriate staffing as work loads might require. The centre possesses stores providing full range of spares and service exchange parts for engine range to allow for rapid response and minimum downtime during repairs. In the near future we will be setting up fuel injection and Woodward governor service facilities.

Turner Diesel will maintain and supervise all works ensuring that services conform to international standards and will be assisted by a dedicated team of local engineers and technicians to permit highly cost effective maintenance services.

This service-centre partnership will also relief our clients of the brunt and inconveniencies for arranging for spares and service men to be flown in from abroad.

For manpower development and transfer of technology, Turner diesel shall carry out training of CNIC engineering staff in the performance of engine trouble shooting, engine repairs and overhaul activities in line with the OEM specifications.
