21st - June - 2006 CNIC Management undertakes site visit with Lot 4.b Bidders

The Management of CNIC conducted a site visit, on Wednesday, 21 June 2006, with bidders having purchased bids for the construction of a Workshop and two Office buildings recently advertised under Lot 4b of the Limbe Shipyard Project. It is useful to recall here that the works under this lot are financed by the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).

The visit which witnessed the effective participation of CNIC’s General Manager, the Project Lead Consultant, the Director of the "Taskforce", the Director of Production and some key resource personnel of CNIC technical departments was aimed at acquainting bidders with the site, the locations of various components under Lot 4b with respect to current activity and some project bench marks.

In an introductory statement prior to the visit, Management informed bidders and other stakeholders present that in order to guarantee the best practices and ensure that the execution of the project meets required international norms, it was committed to providing all bidders an equal opportunity and equal access to relevant information likely to serve as inputs to improve on the quality of bids and the execution of work for the selected firm. The attention of bidders was also drawn to the obligation to scrupulously respect guidelines spelt out in the invitation to tender.

The short briefing meeting was followed by the site visit during which bidders sought and obtained clarifications on some issues like the characteristics of the site subsoil, the availability of space for installation of work premises, technical data on the gradient for execution of works in relation to adjoining facilities etc. The Project Lead Consultant and the Director of the TaskForce alternately provided explanations and reassured bidders about the availability of required technical data.

A total of nine (09) firms/ companies, both national and international, involved in this international tender, took part in the site visit. They include:
