MV Black Rhino Project mobilises to begin Work

CNIC is galvanizing all its resources to begin work on the MV Black Rhino vessel belonging to Waves Group, which had an accident at the Douala seaport access channel on July 11, 2026.At the level of the Department of Production, all competent technicians are on alert, awaiting further instructions.

The entire personnel have been sensitized and mobilized, the Production Manager, Mr. Ndip Charles, told CNIC Infos. Workers willingly sacrificed their August salary for JUP 111, one of their major pieces of equipment needed to execute this job, to be repaired in Limbe and brought to the accident site in Douala.

After the repairs, the Department of Maritime Affairs in the Ministry of Transport carried out an inspection visit to Limbe, accompanied by officials of Waves Group, owner of MV Black Rhino, on September 14, 2026. A Seaworthiness Certificate was issued to CNIC, declaring the equipment fit for the next twelve months.

It is against this background that CNIC workers have remained optimistic that, in spite of the controversial contract award declarations being echoed, CNIC remains the only competent local company that can execute the contract.

Expectations are high as workers remain hopeful that the execution of this project will go a long way to clear a substantial part of their over 20 months of salary arrears.
